NOT JUST RESCUE: RAPID REMOTE RESCUE
In all industries – and especially at height – rescues must be conducted quickly to minimise risk to casualties and rescuers. The consequence of failure can be fatal.
However, there are wider repercussions for employers’ corporate responsibilities. Although no one likes to talk about it, failure to get an ill or injured employee down in time can lead to potentially costly compensation claims.
The Limpet's integrated rescue feature has been designed with all this in mind. It’s fast, safe and simple to operate. And it’s built in – unlike other fall arrest and climb assist products, which require additional capital expenditure (and ongoing maintenance) on a separate rescue system.
In automatic mode, the Limpet™ brings the casualty down after a slip or fall – at a safe rate to a safe place. However, good safety management also requires a method of third-party rescue, so the Limpet’s height safety system includes remote control units (incorporating one-second lift and measured descent functions) that enable a rescuer on the ground to re-orientate and recover the casualty.
Key benefits
- Protects employer liability – avg. $1m claim per fatality (US, 2002)
- Quick and easy to use, reducing expensive down time (est. £3000/turbine/day)
- Cheaper and more reliable than more complicated height safety systems
- Allows safe, remote rescue by third parties and separate rescuer access for casualty assessment and first aid
