Limpet Technology is building on its success in the US staged entertainment market, adding Seattle based THiNC Worldwide to its customer base. Limpet partner, Innovative Access Systems Inc. secured the deal which will see THiNC use the systems on the Linkin Park tour of North America and Europe. Kicking off in the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on the 8th of August, touring Europe in Nov-Dec, and finishing up after 7 months in Edmonton Canada the Limpet® L5 units will be used as a fall recovery system and as well as the main access and safety systems for the follow spot light operators to reach their positions high above the stage.
Frank Aguirre, President of Innovative Access Systems commented, “Having seen Limpet used on the Muse 2nd Law tour, the set designer became a convert to the benefits of the system and specified their use on the Linkin Park set. Terry at THiNC had also become a real believer in how Limpet can improve safety and rescue capabilities for staging companies and so we were able to put together a package that would allow THiNC to bring Limpet on board for Linkin” He added “With Limpet units now out in various tours in the USA, including Queen and Paul McCartney and following an awesome write up in PLSN magazine, Limpet is on its way to becoming a must-have piece of equipment as staging companies start to give issues around health, safety and rescue the consideration they deserve.”
Terry Higgs, President of THiNC Worldwide added “We have a long term relationship with the lighting vendor, Christie Lites, and are really happy that we have been able to partner with them and IAS to bring this innovative new safety system onto the Linkin Park tour. Beyond this, we see a big future for Limpets in the other events, specifically larger scale arena and stadium sized corporate events where we manage rigging and life safety matters. Safety has always been a primary consideration for us, but now with great that products like the Limpet® L5 units we are able to set a new standard for safety in the entertainment work place.”
Philip Taylor, Marketing Director at Limpet Technology commented “It’s fantastic that the investment that we put into developing a three phase, 208 volt version of the Limpet with rugged connectors specially for the lighting sector in the USA is starting to pay off. Limpet systems really are a new generation of safety product and whether you need it for powered climb assist, as was the case on the Jesus Christ Superstar tour, or for lifting lighting operators into high positions.
