Windhoist Training Centre Adds Limpet® Next-Generation Climb Assist to its Tower
Edinburgh based Limpet Technology has equipped the Windhoist training centre in Irvine with its pioneering Limpet® L5 multi-function height safety and access system.
Installed at the base of Windhoist’s 25-metre-high training tower, the Limpet® L5 will allow working at height trainees to experience its best-in-class climb assist capability, enabling them to ascend the ladder with only 10% of the normal effort. They may also be reassured to know that, if they slip off, they will fall a distance of less than 10mm thanks to Limpet’s Proactive Fall Prevention feature. And, if worst comes to worst, and they need rescued, then the Limpet’s in-built Rapid Remote Rescue will allow the trainer to simply lower them to the ground with no need for the trainer to climb to height.
Philip Taylor, Limpet Technology’s head of business development commented, “Windhoist are a well-known and respected name in wind turbine construction, and nobody gets the need for safety like them. They’ve put together an absolutely top class training facility in Irvine, with some of the best trainers in the industry. For us, it made absolute sense to have a Limpet at their centre.” He went on. “At 25 metres, it’s a tall training tower and exposed to all the fine weather that Irvine is renowned for, but this is exactly the environment where a product like Limpet can stand out.”
Windhoist’s Head Trainer, Jeremy Weiss, added “I’ve seen Limpet systems in action over the past few years and to my mind it’s absolutely the best climb-assist out there with its integrated fall arrest, rescue and lifting features. I’m very excited to have it here and it adds another great element to our height safety training courses”
