VENSYS ENERGY SELECTS LIMPET® MULTIFUNCTION SAFETY SYSTEMS AS STANDARD FOR NEW WIND TURBINES
Edinburgh based Limpet Technology today announced that it has signed a contract with German wind turbine manufacturer Vensys, to supply its Limpet® L2 and L5 multifunction height safety systems as standard into new wind turbines with a hub height up to 85 metres for installations in the UK, Ireland & Luxembourg.
Limpet Chief Executive, Stephen Cornwallis commented, “This agreement represents a major break-through for the Company. For the first time it establishes Limpet not just as a retrofit climb assist system for installed turbines but as an OEM factory-fitted access solution for new turbines.” He added “Over the past four years, we’ve established that Limpets are a better all-round access solution than service lifts or first generation climb assist products and Vensys will be the first turbine manufacturer to benefit from this in the field.” He went on “The first new Vensys turbine with Limpet access will be installed in Wales during October of this year. Our agreement initially covers the UK, Ireland and Luxembourg, but we hope and expect that Vensys will expand the territory as the significant cost and efficiency benefits of using Limpet become evident.” Michael Keller, Sales Manager UK at Vensys stated “We have been in dialogue with Limpet Technology for some time, about implementing their innovative solutions as the standard access system inside our turbines. Like the rest of the wind energy industry, we want to take cost out of our turbines but without any compromise in quality or safety. With Limpet, we are happy to say that we think quality of access and safety in our turbines will be improved and cost will go down, which in our view, is the best option of all.” About Limpet Technology Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Limpet Technology Ltd combines innovative new approaches to height safety with world-class industrial design and engineering capabilities.
